You think you have all of your bases covered, and you never do. After submitting updated information to Disney, I was shut down. Thanks to a quick and thorough explanation from inside sales, what I thought was going to derail the entire project was simply an error on my part on the logo I was using. I decided to just reuse my logo from 10 years ago when relaunching, but failed to notice that the Tiki God had Mickey Ears atop his head. While that may have been ok 10 years go, today, that is a big no no.
Thanks goodness, that was all. I had something similar happen with my second agency, I launched in 2019. I spent thousands of dollars and many, many hours of my time to get things ready to go, all to have Disney say my agency name was not acceptable. Unfortunately, there isn’t any way with Disney to pre-submit a name, you have to have everything ready to go before getting approval. A huge pain. Changing a logo is simple compared to starting over with a new name.
A few minutes on Midjourney to design the bird, a few more minutes in Photoshop to put the gold ring around the tiki bird and add the text, and voilĂ , a new logo! I actually like this version much better than the old one, less Tiki, but much cleaner.
It is very possible I may change this logo a bit over the next month or so, but for now, it looks great and shouldn’t be a problem with getting approval (fingers crossed).
